Mission is the lifeblood of the church. The Spirit brought the church into being to continue Christ’s work in the world. We, like the prophets and apostles before us, are sent ones.
Mission is so much more than a hammer and nail. Mission is a two-way street. In word and deed, we make Christ’s love known in the world. In our encounters with those in need, we come to know Christ. We discover the Spirit powerfully working through both us, and those we meet in our community and our world.
Mission invites us into partnership. We seek to collaborate with organizations and ministries who faithfully serve in their particular context, whether a homeless shelter in Chattanooga or a school in rural Haiti. Our goal is to support these ministries and learn from their knowledge. Robust relationships with our mission partners lead to dynamic experiences of sharing Christ’s love.
Mission calls us to continued openness to the work of the Spirit in our midst as we seek to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8).
