Rivermont Senior Adult Ministry provides for people who have retired, or are around age 65 and above.
The needs and desires of this age group are incredibly diverse, and so are the programs for them:
Rivermont Senior Adults are active in the many intergenerational activities of the church. They also have a Bible study in the Robinson Room Tuesdays at 10:30. On the third Tuesday each month, a group goes to lunch together afterwards, usually at a trendy downtown restaurant. A men’s group gathers for breakfast at Karl’s Restaurant in Hixson every other Friday at 8 am.
Our church has several affinity groups in which Senior Adults participate. Knitting or Crocheting Groups meet Tuesdays at 7 pm and Wednesdays at 1 pm in the Robinson Room. Rivermont Readers select diverse books to discuss in the Session Room on the third Saturday of each month. A Tai Chi class at 3 pm on Thursdays helps Senior Adults stay limber and balanced. There are two Bridge groups that meet monthly.
A Travel & Entertainment Committee sets a fun excursion for each month. You’ll find Rivermont Senior Adults at Volkswagen concerts of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, museums of Atlanta, Nashville and Birmingham, organ concerts at Memorial Auditorium, and dinners at local restaurants.
