Rivermont and the Presbytery of East Tennessee

Continuing a long history of service to the presbytery, several Rivermonters
are serving the Presbytery of East Tennessee during 2006. Alphabetically, here
is a list of Rivermonters serving on various Presbytery entities:

• The Committee on Ministry (COM) oversees pastors & sessions and examines
  new pastors.


• The Committee on Preparation for Ministry (CPM) shepherds candidates for
  the ministry and prepares them for examination.


• The Committee on Nominations nominates candidates for service in the
  presbytery.


• The Committee on Representation monitors presbytery committees to insure
  fairness.


• The Permanent Judicial Commission serves as the 9 member court for the
  presbytery.


• Outdoor Ministries oversees the John Knox Center.


• Four major committees, called Mission Teams: Connect, Equip, Serve and
  Support.
  
  Equip provides for Christian Education and helps congregations discern new
  Opportunities for mission & ministry


• Serve evaluates the presbytery's mission funding priorities and
  advocates for their support


• Budget & Finance prepares the annual presbytery budget and monitors
  spending.


• Property oversees the operation of the presbytery office and the
  maintenance of property belonging to the presbytery.


• The Coordinating Council co-ordinates the work of the committees, teams
  and commissions.


• The Listening Team conducts annual visits to each church of the
  presbytery, interviewing both the pastor and session and reporting to COM.
