Future Hopes and Plans

The
Chattanooga
Community Kitchen
Rivermont has had an emphasis on stateside
missions for the
last two years. One of these missions is “The Chattanooga
Community
Kitchen” which has grown since its inception involving four local
downtown
churches and has expanded to a whole city block on east Eleventh
Street.
Rivermont has been active at the CK for many years and will continue to
do
so, in the planning and execution of a new phase.
Some of
the past projects that we have been involved in
are:
Securing the necessary finances to lay
the tile that been
sitting around for two years (laid by men of
RPC).
Painting
various areas of the building.
Help clean up the flooded basement and
renovate the damaged
basement. Assembled 87 storage racks for canned foods
and spray painted
the basement, thanks to use of a member spray paint
unit.
Furnished
an apartment in the Family
Housing and Learning
Center.
A member
donated a used forklift.
A member donated a free electrical
analysis by the
EPB.
A member
donated her company’s unused
computers.
Help prepare and serve lunch every fourth
Friday of the month.
Members charge CK cost to purchase
materials for
projects.
Assist
in fund raising.
Volunteer on the front desk.
Give generously of money, time and time
when requested.
CK is very appreciative of ministry Rivermont
has done for
the homeless population of the Chattanooga area.
Some of the everyday needs are: volunteers
for the night shelters, sponsors for The Family Housing and Learning
Center and
Volunteers on the front desk. Also, individuals and groups to
organize
fund-raising activities to benefit CK, clothing, shoes, toiletry
items and coats
in the winter.
The question today is: Where is The CK going
in the
future?
