What We Believe

We believe in the one Triune God. From the beginning, God called creation into a relationship. Throughout history, humankind has turned away from God in sin. In love, God took on our form in Jesus Christ to overcome our sinfulness. In Jesus’ life, we see God requires love, justice, and sacrifice. In his death, Christ repaired the relationship between humankind and God. In his resurrection, we believe Jesus conquered sin and invited all to receive God’s grace. The Holy Spirit empowers and confronts the faithful to make God’s love known. Through the Scriptures, the Spirit speaks words of encouragement, sacrifice, and hope. Christ’s disciples are called to continue his work by doing God's will, so that it will be on earth as it is in heaven. The Church is blessed with the joy of salvation now and earnestly prepares for Christ’s return.

Love. We can become weary with our busy routines and the mundane stresses of life. But at Rivermont, we gather to wake up to the love of God that flows among us and through our world. Throughout our worship and work, we strive to love God and love our neighbors.

Runs. Love is not only a feeling. Love is a force that reorients us and spurs us to action.  In response to God’s love toward us, Rivermont is active. As we pick up a hammer to build a house for Habitat or travel for mission work in Haiti, we hope to show the love of Christ through the work of our hands.

Deep. At the well, Jesus promised the Samaritan woman living water. Like a well that never runs dry, God’s love is abundant, eternal, and unconditional. In Christ, our thirst for fellowship with the divine and one another is quenched. As we understand the depth of God’s love, we are moved to respond to love as God first loved us.
